Gamma-Rho Scholarship Winners - 2024
Gamma-Rho will have awarded nearly $100,000 by the end of this school year.
Barnes Scholarship - named in memory of Ernest Barnes ’15, the model initiate at the 1915 Kappa Sigma Grand Conclave, is a $1,000 scholarship awarded in the fall to the initiated member who has demonstrated the highest achievement in learning and teaching the ritual of Kappa Sigma. The Barnes Scholarship is made possible by Brother Edward Finger ’97.

Bobbe Scholarship - named in memory of Brother Henry Bobbe, a beloved former DGM who was deeply involved in securing the return of Gamma Rho to campus in 1980, is a $1,000 scholarship awarded in the fall and spring to the newly initiated member with the highest Grade Point Average among his pledge brothers in the first semester following their initiation.

Bononia Docet Scholarship - $2,000-$3,000 renewable scholarships to pay for membership dues for a member with financial need who have demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and service. Preference given to a first generation and/or minority member. Sponsors include Scott Gossett ’94, Michael Honigstein ’91, Tom Keating ’62, Heather Lenkin, Chuck Lytle ’59, Eric Manese ’87, Carl Russell ’59 and Ryan Schneider ’93. Some students won more than one scholarship.

Cagalj Scholarship - named in memory of Mike Cagalj ’58, is a $2,000 endowed scholarship awarded in the fall to the member who has distinguished himself academically and in his service to the Fraternity and in campus leadership.

Delta Phi Scholarship - is a $500 scholarship awarded in the fall and spring or summer to the pledge or initiated members that have shown achievement in their grades, campus or chapter leadership, or public service, and because of his financial condition is unable to afford the full costs of fraternity membership.

Kappa Sigma High School Senior Leadership - This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman based on an application and interview. They must join Kappa Sigma.

Macia Scholarship - named in memory of Col. James Macia Jr. ’35, is a $1,000 scholarship awarded in the fall to the member who has demonstrated the highest achievement in campus leadership while also maintaining high academic standards.

Noble Scholarship - named in honor of Matt Noble ’84, is a $1,000 endowed scholarship awarded in the fall to the member that best demonstrates a commitment to the betterment of the Chapter’s relationship with its alumni, and is excelling in their campus and/or chapter leadership, as well as service.

Parents’ Club Scholarship - named for and funded by Kappa Sigma parents, is a $1,000 scholarship awarded in the fall and spring to the member with the Highest Grade Point Average during the preceding semester as a pledge.

The Larson Scholarship - named in memory of Richard “Bosco” Larson ’65, is a $1,000 endowed scholarship awarded in the fall to the member that best demonstrates a tireless commitment to the betterment of the Chapter, including through his participation in work and cleanup events. .

Top Pledge Scholarship - a $1,000 scholarship endowed by Mike Layne ’56 and awarded in the fall and spring to the pledge who has demonstrated the highest achievement as a pledge during the current semester in both leadership and academics.

Whaley Scholarship named in memory of Matt Whaley ’94, is a $4,000 scholarship endowed by the of his family, friends and brothers and is awarded in the fall to the brother who best demonstrates the meaning of brotherhood and fellowship in Kappa Sigma through his conduct and a personal essay submitted as part of the application.

Wicart Scholarship - named in memory of Carlton Wicart ’23, the first Rhodes Scholar from the Chapter, is a $1,000 scholarship awarded in the fall and spring to the initiated member with the highest grade point average from the prior semester.
