Andy Hottovy was initiated into Gamma-Rho in 2000 and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Finance. During his time as an undergraduate, he served as an ASUA Student Senator from 2002 to 2003, where he played a key role in the establishment of the now-legendary ZonaZoo student section — an effort documented in the Arizona Daily Wildcat. He also led his fraternity to numerous intramural championships in softball and flag football, including a memorable moment catching the championship-winning touchdown in 2000, despite a wardrobe malfunction that only added to the legend.
Professionally, Andy has built an impressive career at Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., where he has worked for the past 19 years. As a Managing Director, he leads the U.S. Investment Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, and Surveillance Teams. Oaktree is a global investment management firm with $202 billion in assets under management, specializing in alternative investments. Andy also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Beyond the office, Andy is committed to community service. He’s a member of the Oaktree Abilities Team, which works to remove barriers related to disabilities and promote inclusion within the workplace and broader community. Through this group, he has partnered with Mychal’s Learning Place in Los Angeles. He’s also an active volunteer with Reading to Kids, has served two years as a Cub Scout Cubmaster, and coaches youth baseball.
Andy lives in Redondo Beach, California, with his wife Laura and their two sons, Nolan (age 9), a Cub Scout, and Luke (age 7), who loves both basketball and baseball. A passionate University of Arizona alumnus, Andy is a basketball season ticket holder and frequently tailgates with fellow Wildcats.
When asked about Kappa Sigma, he says, “Being connected to Arizona and Kappa Sigma means a great deal to me. Many of my closest friends that I speak with on a day-to-day basis are those I met on the basketball court at the Kappa Sigma House. I lived at the house for a year and really appreciate the friendships and connections I made during those four years. I still keep in touch with over 20 of my pledge bros and we just had another Sweet 16 run, and I am getting texts all over the place for the same guys I shared limburger nachos with or cleaned that KSig courtyard with as a pledge. What a wonderful experience that I wouldn’t change for anything.”
